The Road to Citizenship for the Children of Illegal Immigrants

          According to the Dream Act Portal, “over three million students graduate from US high schools every year” (Dream Act Portal, 1). They are afforded opportunities and encouraged to fulfill their hopes and dreams. There are approximately sixty-five thousand students in America who are not given the same opportunities and encouragement. They are the undocumented children of illegal immigrants, a title over which they had no control. They have lived in America most of their lives and their dream is simply to be called an American. President Barack Obama has offered a temporary reprieve to those undocumented children but a more permanent resolution is needed.
